Literature Text

You shone bright amongst the darkness
My dying star
Your damaged soul fueling my infatuation.

The memories beneath those eyelids
Burned at your soul
Though you didn't see fit to trust me with them.

With the freezing of your heart
And the flicker of your wrist,

You cast me aside.

Brooding on your own
Plunging us back into the blackest of nights.

But through the darkness
You still saw the moon
A beacon of hope on the bleak horizon.

And as I sat amongst the darkness
Bathed in the lunar eclipse
I realized there was no hope for a dying star.
Normally I am prone to long, detailed descriptions, but today I think i'm going to limit my words. Why? For this simple reason:

I want to know what YOU see.

I will not delve into any personal back-story, hinting at what the poem is truly about. Because part of the magic of poetry is for the reader to decide what they think it means, to interpret it for themselves. (Yeesh I sound like an English teacher...)

So, I hope you enjoy! Please let me know in the comments what you thought, and what you interpreted the words to mean. Happy reading! :D

P.S.
To my watchers:
Sorry I've been AWOL for so long!! Unfortunately, inspiration has the poor habit of striking me when something truly bad has happened in my life (Not the case this time though, don't worry! :) ) so I unfortunately haven't had any good ideas. Thankfully though, my constant reading of poetry and books have brought me to do some thinking, therefore this new poem was born. I'll try to write some new stuff soon, I promise!!!

P.S.S.
Romance novels will be the death of me.
